The USAG-Miami Fitness Center provides an array of high quality, customer-driven fitness, health and recreational programs at no or reasonable cost to military, civilian employees and Family members of USSOUTHCOM and USAG-Miami. 

About the Fitness Center

The USAG-Miami Family and MWR Fitness Center is a state-of-the-art facility of approximately 44,000 square feet. The center has a fully-equipped weight room with cardio machines, free weights, dumbbells and hammer strength machines. Our large gymnasium has two full basketball courts that convert to volleyball courts. In addition, we have well-equipped men's and women's locker rooms with all of the typical amenities including a sauna.

The customer service desk provides a variety of equipment that can be checked out by authorized patrons. Our Fitness Center is stocked with equipment geared towards functional training and fitness, including kettle bells, medicine balls, sleds, power racks, TRX, rowers, stability balls, ropes and much more.

Sports Simulator

Operating hours are from Monday through Friday 5 AM-6PM.

Sports Simulator can be used by reservations only. Contact the Fitness Center to reserve your session.

Reservations are $30 per hour with a 10% discount on Fridays from 11 AM - 2 PM

Walk ins may be possible based on availability 

Minors should be accompanied by an adult 18 years or older at all times

This system is available to all DoD ID cardholders.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

  • Functional Fitness*: Train your muscles to work together and prepare them for daily tasks by doing common movements you might do at home, at work or in sports
  • Push, Pull & Legs*: (Old School Training) Develop strength and increase muscle size
  • Full Body*: Target all your muscles, including hips, glutes, thighs, back, shoulders and arms every day
  • Burn Fat*: Target all muscles with strength and conditioning training
  • Aerobic Step: Interval structured workout with high and low intensity moves designed to get your heart rate up, boost cardio endurance while targeting abs & glutes
  • Stretching: Full body stretching class that increases flexibility, balance &  improves joints range of motion. Perfect for incorporating into weekly weight/cardio training
  • Yoga: Focuses on classic poses, building on the basics with emphasis on
    alignment of standing, sitting and twisting poses
  • Indoor Cycling: Improve endurance, strength with intervals of high intensity and recovery. Class is conducted on stationary exercise bicycle with weighted flywheel

Massage Therapy Services

Massage Therapy Services provided by MWR Fitness Center with Simo Massage Therapy. Contact the Fitness Center for availabilities. 

Intramural Sports

The intramural sports program includes flag football, volleyball, basketball, soccer and softball. MWR collaborates with the City of Doral to offer a basketball league for the command. The City provides the equipment, staff, officials, local teams and MWR provides the facility. With this partnership, MWR Sports and Fitness is able to provide quality a basketball a league for our customers.

Flag football, soccer and softball are offered in conjunction with the local community city leagues, as we do not have these facilities onsite.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What are acceptable forms of ID for access to the Fitness Center?

     All patrons are required to present a CAC card, badge with driver’s license and must be registered in the RecTrac data base. Swiping of ID card is mandatory for all patrons.

 2. Who is eligible to use the Fitness Center?

     a. The fitness facilities are for the primary use of active duty military personnel who are assigned or attached to USSOUTHCOM and their family members;

     b. Members of the Army National Guard (ARNG) and US Army Reserve (USAR) and their Family members, either active or reserve component;

     c. Retired military personnel and their Family members with dependent ID

     d. DOD civilians and contractors working at USSOUTHCOM and their Family members;

     e. External users such as federal government employees (TSA, DHS, CBP, ICE, FAA, FBI, USPS), City of Doral Police Department, MDPD, MDFR, Fire Rescue Department and Miami-Dade Police Department, with proper identification during regular fitness center hours.**

     ** External users do not have authorization to sponsor guests.

3. What is the youth age policy for the Fitness Center?

     The age requirement at USAG-Miami Family and MWR Fitness Center is 16 years. Family members ages 12-15 must be accompanied and supervised at all times by a responsible patron eighteen (18) years of age or older and eligible to utilize the facilities.

     Children ages 6-11 may utilize the basketball courts and racquetball courts and must be supervised at all times by a responsible patron eighteen (18) years of age or older and eligible to utilize the facilities. Appropriate action will be taken for children left unsupervised.

4. Are strollers or baby carriages allowed in the fitness area?

     Yes, on the track and the outdoor facility

5. Does the Fitness Center have a dress code?

     Yes, appropriate athletic attire must be worn while utilizing the fitness center. Jeans, dress pants, cut offs, etc. are prohibited. Shirt and shoes are required at all times. No exposed midriffs.

     Prohibited clothing: shirtless, half-shirts, torn and/or cut shirts, suggestive insignias or pictures, exposed sports bras, gluteus muscle shorts, bathing suits and bare feet in public areas.

      Appropriate athletic attire will be determined by facility personnel on a case-by-case basis.

6. Are personal trainers available by request?

      Yes, trainers can provide personalized workout routines and assist for two weeks with adjustments after 8-12 weeks.

7. Can I request specific music to be played?

     No. Earphones must be used while utilizing indoor and outdoor facility.

8. Can visitors use the Fitness Center?

     Yes. Active duty military personnel, Retirees, civilians assigned to USSOUTHCOM and Family members are authorized to sponsor guests at the fitness center. Sponsor and guest must sign a hold harmless agreement before utilizing the facility. The sponsor is responsible for their guest’s behavior while using the facility and the guest must leave when the sponsor leaves the facility.

     *External users do not have authorization to sponsor guests.

9. How much are Fitness Center classes?

     Indoor cycling, Yoga, Aerobic Dance, and Stretching are $3 per class. Punch passes, which comprise 10 classes, are available for $25 and never expire.

10. Are there spa & wellness services available, i.e. massages, esthetician, dietitians, etc.?

     We now offer massage services by Simo Massage Therapy, call (305) 992-6685 for more information. 

12. Can I rent a locker?

     No. Lockers are for daily use only. No items should be left inside lockers overnight. Three (3) warnings will be given before items are removed. Lockers are checked after normal hours of operation. Items found will be stored in lost and found for a maximum of thirty days.

     No BAGS will be allowed on Fitness Center second level, no exceptions.

13. Can I make a reservation for the basketball and racquetball courts?

     Yes. Reservations for basketball and racquetball courts can be made at the Fitness Center front desk at +1 (305)-437-0123 or +1 (305)-437-0124. Reservations for ceremonies or special events must be approved by the Fitness Center manager.

14. Does the Fitness Center have towels to wipe down the machines?

     No. Gym wipe buckets are provided to wipe down equipment and cardio machines after use. Gym wipes and trash cans are located in each room and around the track in the Fitness Center.
